Our founding owner, Elyse Mallins, has many years of experience advising employers and employees on their most challenging workplace problems.

Throughout her career, Elyse has provided sound counsel in employment and labour law for a variety of organizations in both the public and private sector, including grocery/retail, franchises, production and manufacturing in the health sector, pharmacies, distribution centers, insurance companies, construction and development companies, academic institutions, hospitals, not-for-profits, banks, credit unions, and sports and entertainment venues.

Elyse began her career at a large Bay Street firm representing some of Canada’s most important and high-profile businesses. From there she moved in-house where she advised Canada’s largest private-sector employer on day-to-day business and labour and employment matters, and was responsible for more than 130,000 employees nationally.

Since then, Elyse has become a business-owner and employer herself, opening Mallins Law, and continuing to provide exceptional legal services and proactive, practical guidance to employer and employee clients.

In addition to the exceptional legal guidance, risk management, and business operations advice that Elyse provides to her clients, she is also a highly skilled and tenacious advocate, fighting for her client’s rights in mediations, arbitrations, and at trial at various levels of court.

Elyse’s multi-faceted experience has allowed her to sit on both sides of the table in a workplace dispute: she has been both the client and the counsel. This has given her unprecedented insights from both perspectives and the ability to predict and proactively respond to issues before they escalate into a crisis.

Elyse has passed on and fostered this knowledge within her talented team who use this learned experience to provide outstanding and skillful legal representation.

Elyse is a frequent and highly respected speaker at seminars and conferences across Canada, and regularly provides extensive nationwide training on all practical workplace matters, including sexual harassment, violence in the workplace, workplace investigations, human rights, and disability management.
